Five Reasons You HAVE to watch Netflix's Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

Yesterday, Netflix launched it's seventh Netflix Original adult-aimed programme in the form of comedy, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and boy, did they do well with this one!

Its simple format has each episode following wide-eyed and wonderfully weird Kimmy Schmidt as she learns about modern life and makes a life for herself in New York City, after being saved from a Reverend-run underground cult, she had been a prisoner of for 15 years, believing that the rest of the world had been destroyed. (Yes, I assure you, it's a comedy series).

After an epic binge-watching session, I give you a mere 5 reasons why you should check it out...

Netflix Recommendation Of The Week!

If you haven't watched Portlandia before then, while I'm not surprised, I'm quick to state that you are missing out. The show is relatively unknown to those who aren't big Fred Armisen, Carrie Brownstein or even Saturday Night Live fans but it really is worth a watch if you like more observational comedy.

What I'm Watching This Month...

If truth be told, there was one reason I bought the first season box set of a show I'd never even watched before and that was Laura Prepon. Orange Is The New Black had left a massive Alex Vause shaped hole in my heart, and after re-watching both the first and second season and having already watched the entirety of Are You There, Chelsea? twice, I wasn't sure what else would successfully fill the void.

Netflix Recommendation Of The Week!

This week I'm recommending a film that, I admittedly haven't watched myself on Netflix yet, but know is brilliant and have just recently noticed is on there, and that's Our House.

Okay, so I'll start by saying it's very, very silly. If you don't like slapstick, comedies with simple (yet funny) plots or typical Stiller humour in genera;, then go be overly picky elsewhere! But if those points make up the kind of film that you think you will enjoy, then this will undoubtedly have you cracking up.

Bad Neighbours review

Being that the two of the leads found fame in some of my favourite comedy films of all time, I was instantly eager to watch Bad Neighbours. Whilst Seth Rogen is known to be a funny film favourite with a back catalogue that includes Knocked Up, Zack and Miri Make a Porno and Pineapple Express, Rose Byrne only really came on to the scene when she cracked us up as uppity Maid Of Honour, Helen in Bridesmaids.

Whilst it was obvious the two would fare well in yet another slapstick comedy, Zac Efron came across as somewhat of a curveball in the casting, yet the High School Musical alumni holds more than his own as chiseled douchebag student, Teddy and warrants a lot of the film's laughs. (Not to mention, the boy is absolutely beautiful and nobody is going to complain about watching him cockily flex his muscles for an hour and a half!)

Pain & Gain review: Miami, muscles and mayhem

Anthony Mackie, Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson explode onto our screens

From Pain & Gain, I didn't expect too much, but I did expect tank tops galore, a few laughs, Miami sun and action, and that's exactly what I got.

Said to be an exact true story, stemming from 1995, Pain & Gain follows Danny Lugo (Mark Wahlberg) as he becomes increasingly fed-up with his mediocre life as a bodybuilder and decides to kidnap and rob one of his wealthiest clients with two of his buff buddies. But, they're not exactly criminal masterminds...

We're The Millers review: A comedy lovers dream!

Absolutely no slapstick gags and crude innuendos are passed up in outrageous comedy We're The Millers lead by recent Saturday Night Live's ex-cast member, Jason Sudeikis.

After having his stash-and-cash stolen by a bunch of youths, marijuana dealer David Clark (Sudeikis) is forced to take on a job for his drug-overlord (The Hangover's Ed Helms) which has him planning to smuggle an enormous amount of cannabis over the Mexican border back into the US. Realising he'll look suspicious if he goes alone, he bribes three other low-lifes into pretending to be his family, "the Millers" for the trip, disguising it as a holiday, but of course, things don't quite go as smoothly as he first expected.

Friends with Kids review: Bridesmaids revisited

Real life friends Westfeldt and Scott play the same on-screen
Featuring pretty much the whole cast of Bridesmaids; Friends With Kids is almost the grown-up version of the hilarious chick-flick. Two best friends, Jason (Adam Scott) and Julie (Jennifer Westfeldt) decide to take out all the stress from a romantic relationship with children, by having a kid together whilst remaining completely platonic.

The pair’s theory is that by having a child between them as buddies, they therefore skip all the tiredness, all the arguing and all the lack of sex, which you would usually get in a relationship but still get to have a kid, with the added bonus of being able to look for “the perfect person” on the side.

Best US comedy shows you've never watched

PARKS AND RECREATION

Filmed in a mockumentary style, and led by a stellar cast starring Blades Of Glory’s Amy Poehler, Stepbrothers’ Adam Scott and I Love You Man’s Rashida Jones, Parks centres around Leslie Knope (Poehler) and her team trying to improve their hometown of Pawnee, Indiana.
