What I'm Watching This Month...

If truth be told, there was one reason I bought the first season box set of a show I'd never even watched before and that was Laura Prepon. Orange Is The New Black had left a massive Alex Vause shaped hole in my heart, and after re-watching both the first and second season and having already watched the entirety of Are You There, Chelsea? twice, I wasn't sure what else would successfully fill the void.

With no other option, I turned to 90's sitcom That 70's Show in which I knew Prepon was a series regular. Unsure it was going to be my thing having never even seen a clip, let alone an episode, I started watching the comedy with an open, yet uncertain mind. Well, all I can say is, thank God for Laura Prepon making me watch this show because it has swiftly become one of my favourite comedies of all time and one that I definitely would never have tried otherwise!

In just 3 weeks, I'm already well into season 3 and every episode makes me laugh and fall deeper in love with all of the characters. It has a Friends/Will & Grace vibe about it with it's humour and character style but the unique setting of the 70's is definitely something that I've loved about this show. It's truly groovy (and has given me the certain urge to dress like I'm from that era).

It's not only that that's made me love the show though. All of the characters are great, including Eric's Mum and Dad, Red and Kitty played by Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp (who actually had a brief  stint on Friends around the same time as filming this). I find myself laughing along with every single one of them, understanding all their different personalities and gag styles.

I can't believe that I had never seen it before and will definitely carry on watching until I've finished all seasons. For a comedy lover, it's perfect easy-watching and gives me a good chuckle when I've had a long day. If you were living under a rock like me, and have also never tried it; DO. It's not just Laura Prepon that makes it great.
