What I'm Watching This Month…

When I've watched a fair few episodes of a television show at one time, I occasionally get a bit too attached to them. This can come and go and I frequently fade in and out of what are my favourite shows at any given time. Now that season two is coming to an end this weekend (and I've simultaneously started re-watching season one already to fill the upcoming void), I find that my current obsession is Orphan Black.

Canadian actress Tatiana Maslany is not just the lead but really deserves the title of "star of the show" as she plays not one role within the programme but several. Yep, you can guess it, the show's about clones and she plays every single one despite their huge differences and numerous scenes together. Not only is the attempt itself impressive but the delivery too. Maslany so perfectly adapts to each character's look, mannerisms and dialect that you find yourself as a viewer completely forgetting they're played by the same person. I have even genuinely thought once 'Where are the other clones names in the credits?!'. She's THAT good.

The show has a strong sci-fi vibe which you would expect from something depicting clones, so if you're into things with that kind of edge, you NEED to check it out if you haven't already. There's also a heavy crime angle as the clones club together to try and find their origin, coming across threatening enemies with their own agendas for the duplicates, on the way. The clone's differences are what makes the show so great to watch as you see all these different personalities find common ground and work towards a united cause by one truly, sensational actress.

The plot lines are revealed at the perfect pace and you are introduced to each clone exactly when necessary to keep the story flowing well. With each episode you never get bored and guaranteed at the end, you'll want to watch the next one. So, why don't ya?! Happy watching.
