The witch-themed series of arguably the weirdest TV series on the small screen at the moment, airs tonight at 10pm on FX and you would be mad to miss it.
Despite the endless teaser trailers and tauntingly revealing tweets the show has released in the past few months, fans still do not know the extent of the show's storyline, as it's always kept relatively secret right up until each episode airs, which only adds to the intrigue.
What we have found out is that the plot centres around a modern day girl's school, opened in New Orleans, run by Cordelia Foxx (Sarah Paulson), in which only students of a somewhat say, magical nature are permitted to attend.
Not all the series will take place in 2013 however. Due to the history surrounding witches and many other subject matters that are said to be featured throughout, it was almost inevitable that the story would have to dip in and out of the past.
The first few episodes have already been announced by title; with the season's pilot being called 'Bitchcraft'. Now, if that alone doesn't make you want to watch it, I'm not sure what will.
Jessica Lange, who's been present as major roles in every season since the show's birth in 2011, plays an equally main part in Coven also, but this time she's sharing the spotlight with none other than acting royalty, Kathy Bates.
Lange will star as Supreme witch, Fiona Goode (estranged mother to headmistress Cordelia) returning to the school with the intention to protect the young girls. Bates' role is a little more interesting in the fact that, for the first time in AHS history, she is playing a real-life person. Her character Delphine LaLaurie was a serial-killer back in the early 1800's, infamously known for the torture and murder of black slaves.
Talk about laying it on thick AHS writers! But that isn't even it, the series will also touch upon the subjects of voodoo, minorities and incest. Well, I suppose it isn't called American HORROR Story for nothing.
It's not all going to be complete doom and gloom however. Much like the intense love story between Violet (Taissa Farmiga) and Tate (Evan Peters) in first season Murder House, creator Ryan Murphy has promised a romance between the acting pair again, but of course between their new characters. Farmiga's young witch, Zoe, is supposedly so powerful she could 'f**k someone to death' whilst it seems that Peters' Kyle is human. We're already sensing the ensuing tragedy between these two!
Second season Asylum may have been (much to fan's outrage) snubbed in most categories at the Emmy's but there is no doubt that Coven won't be anything less than brilliant. With all the favourite cast member's returning for the third season and the added talent of not only Bates, but Academy Award nominee Gabourey Sidibe joins the register as well as Scream 4's Emma Roberts.
If you're really well-behaved and want to wait until AHS:Coven actually airs on television across the pond you'll have to wait a little while as American Horror Story: Coven doesn't debut on Fox until Tuesday, October 29 at 10pm in the UK.
