Who Run The World? Girls.

Jessica Lange as Constance Langdon in Season 1.
It seems like Ryan Murphy loves his women as he confirms nearly every female actress in his past two series of his American Horror Story. There's now only a few more wonders followers need to be asking themselves, will he bring some of his men back (Zachary Quinto and Dylan McDermott) or will this be a completely lady-heavy season? And, even more importantly, what is going to be the concept of the 3rd series of the franchise?

First to be confirmed was Jessica Lange, much to avid fans delights. There is no mistaking that Lange is the most favoured actress from both series of the show, and she has had high praise from boards with nominations for Golden Globes etc. She had major parts in both the original AHS and Asylum, so it's understandable why the audiences have such an admiration for her. Her portrayal of Constance was brilliantly eerie and pretty much carried the whole of the season.

Tate Langdon was undoubtedly Evan Peters most interesting role.
In my opinion, the only character who gave Constance a run for her money in the popularity stakes was troubled Tate Langdon, played by Evan Peters, despite his dark personality. The only male so far, from both series who has been said to be returning for the third season, and it's obvious why. The young actor played both Tate and his Season 2 character, Kit Walker, extraordinarily well, making both parts relatable and likeable despite the odds. Being the only male confirmed so far, and a potentially romantic storyline according to the cards, will Evan be involved? And, are viewers ready to let go of Violet and Tate?

At the same time as Murphy announced fan favourite Evan Peters was staying on, he also revealed Sarah Paulson will be returning. Paulson had a very small role in Season 1 but was almost the focal point of Asylum, particularly towards the last few episodes. Her Lana Winters' battle against the relentless Bloody Face made viewers route for her vengeance up until the very last minute!

Secondary characters who have also been said will definitely be coming back for the next season, due to air in the autumn of this year, was the amazing Lily Rabe, Frances Conroy and Taissa Farmiga (who unfortunately wasn't present in any of the second season).

Farmiga played Violet Harmon in Season 1, but unfortunately didn't
return for Season 2 due to there being 'no part for her'.
There has been rife talk that Season 3 will centre around witchcraft and magic, which admittedly does seem plausible with all of the women that are being brought back. Many fans have made assumptions based on clues they noticed in the final episodes of Asylum (for example, Sister Jude waving a broom around for no real apparent reason in the finale and Sister Mary-Eunice playing 'I Put A Spell On You' randomly on the common room jukebox). Not to mention Mary-Eunice's burning to the death and the Monsignor's drops of Paganism in normal conversation.

Would you be pleased if the new series were to be about witches? Can they really be scary enough, or will it just be something reminiscent of Practical Magic or Hocus Pocus? I am personally very excited about the idea of that being the concept, and if done well, it could be the best season yet. I'm just glad the writers didn't cope out and do a vampiric story! Thank God.

If you haven't watched American Horror Story before, I couldn't recommend it enough. It is one of the weirdest but most interesting programmes I have ever watched and it's uniqueness of having a different storyline every season is something I have never seen before!
